University of South Carolina School of Visual Art and Design in Charlotte

The Associate in Arts (AFA)

The Associate in Fine Arts (AFA) is intended for students who ultimately wish to complete a baccalaureate fine arts degree (BFA or BAFA) at a four-year college or academy. AFA curriculum courses focus on visual arts but the caste besides includes general teaching offerings that emphasize the development of belittling skills, written and oral communication, and competencies in math and science.

Course Option Guide

This template has been developed past referencing the Baccalaureate Caste plans or the native student plans posted on the websites of UNC universities with studio art or bachelor of fine arts degrees, plus NC Central, which has a Bachelor of Arts in Studio Art programme.

Students who successfully complete this class of study with an AFA degree volition have met the archway requirements for awarding directly into the BFA program at all of the schools listed below except NC Central, although acceptance into any BFA programme is not guaranteed. Students who transfer before completing the caste must come across the archway to the major requirements and the general instruction requirements at the receiving institution.

At UNC Charlotte, students who consummate the AFA degree are considered to have met the full general pedagogy requirements.

Most universities require students to submit a portfolio for review. Some recommend a summer get-go.  Be sure to read the university's baccalaureate degree programme for details.
